  • My husband and I visited Mr. Shiraz’ jewelry shop in Chiang Mai two weeks ago. We had been put off by various merchants from north to south who had no certificate of authenticity to offer buyers. Mr. Shiraz’s shop is very unassuming in appearance, so we walked in with a bit of hesitation, but were immediately and courteously shown in by Mr. Shiraz’s staff. Five minutes later Mr. Shiraz came in. He showed us beautiful, understated gems, offering help, information and suggestions. We finally chose and purchased a beautiful jade pendent, and will hopefully purchase a precious gem -undecided yet - in the near future - and have it sent to us, as discussed in the shop before leaving.
